How we do it

What happens when you bring it in

  1. Stop and assess

Switch the laptop off and stop using it. New data can overwrite what you want back. We assess the drive and the type of failure.

  2. Make a safe copy

Where possible we copy the drive first and work on the copy, so your original stays untouched.

  3. Recover

We recover what we can from logical faults such as deleted files, formats and corrupted partitions, and tell you plainly if the drive is physically damaged.

  4. Return your files

We hand your recovered files back on a drive of your choice. Your files are treated as confidential.

No honest technician can promise 100% recovery. Your chances are best if you stop using the drive straight away. A physically damaged drive (clicking, burnt, water-damaged) may need specialist lab recovery. We tell you that before you spend more.
Questions

Data recovery: common questions

Can deleted files really be recovered?

Often, yes, as long as the space hasn't been overwritten. That's why you should stop using the drive as soon as you notice the loss.

Should I keep switching it on to see if it works?

No. Repeatedly powering a failing drive can make things worse. Switch it off and bring it in.

Is recovery from an SSD different?

Yes. SSDs handle deleted data differently from older hard drives, and deleted files can be harder to recover. Bring it in quickly and we'll assess your chances.

Ready to get it fixed?

Send your laptop model and what's happening. We'll tell you what to expect before you bring it in.
